If it’s 2PM here, what time is it in Paris, or perhaps London? The Qlock application provides an answer to that precise question. The application puts dockable clock windows for various international locations on your desktop. So if you want to know what time it is in London, Paris, and Tokyo, you can have three colorful clocks on your desktop that tell you the time in those locations.

To get started with Qlock you need only download a less than 1MB executable and run it. When you do that, a setup wizard shows up and takes you through the installation process. The good thing here is that you will be done before you know it.

By default, the Qlock application puts 4 dockable clock windows on your desktop – one for LA, one for New York, one for London, and one for Tokyo. Feel free to take these windows and place them anywhere you want on the screen. Click on the Qlock system tray icon to hide the clocks out of sight, click once again to get them out of hiding, and right click it to access a few extra settings.

To play with Qlock’s functionality you must right click on the dockable clock windows. Do this to create a new clock, to change the location of an existing clock, to change the clock’s color, to change the time format (you can also change it by clicking on the clock itself), and to set the skin.

That is pretty much all you can do with the Free edition. The Pro and Gold editions have a bit of extra functionality to offer. Qlock Pro, for example, lets you create alarms, attach notes to clocks, create profiles, and stay on top of an RSS feed. Qlock Free lets you try out the extra functionality Qlock Pro has to offer and, in the About menu, invites you to upgrade.

Qlock is ideally suited to help those who need to know what time it is in various parts of the world.

Pros

In no time at all you will have Qlock up and running on your PC. The application puts dockable clock windows on your desktop. Set the color and skin of these clock windows. There are three Qlock editions to choose from: Free, Pro, and Gold.

Cons

You’re missing out on some very nice functionality by sticking with the Free version.
